Former Today show meteorologist Steve Jacobs has announced he is set to open a new restaurant in one of Sydney’s hottest spots.

The popular breakfast TV star, 56, told Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday he has partnered with Tony’s Burger Joint of Bondi to create a new eatery.

He said the restaurant, which opens next Tuesday, will be located in Enmore, a thriving entertainment district just 5km from the CBD.

In an exclusive chat, the father-of-two said the new career move was “kind of a turning point” and did not mean he was quitting television.

“I will still work in television,” he said, adding: “Television is so fragmented now and I have spent the last five years focusing on my daughters.”

“It’s sad because I thought the show had so much potential… but I think it’s a sign of the times that free TV has arrived.”
