Trolls target mother of the woman accused of murdering Dr Michael Yung in Adelaide home invasion

The mother of a woman accused of murdering her beloved surgeon along with her boyfriend has been brutally and unfairly attacked online.

Kerem Aydin, 22, and his partner Jacinta Davila, 27, were arrested while shopping at Torrensville Plaza in Adelaide’s inner west with their eight-month-old daughter at about 7.30pm on Tuesday following the death of 61-year-old Dr Michael Jung.

Police allege the pair broke into Mr Young’s $2 million Gilberton home in the city’s central business district in the early hours of Monday morning.

The top doctor suffered devastating chest, bowel and head injuries during the alleged home invasion and died at the Royal Adelaide Hospital on Tuesday evening.

Since the couple was charged with one count of murder, Davila’s mother, Mary Davila, was mercilessly tortured online.

The comments under her social media posts were filled with aggressive trolls calling on her and her daughter to “rot.”

However, other commentators showed compassion for the mother.

“Leave this poor mother alone, none of us have any control over what our adult children are (supposedly) doing,” one said.

“We can only hope and pray that their upbringing will set them on the right path in life.”

Aydin and Davila were also charged with felony assault and theft by force.

They appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday but did not enter a plea.

Judge Michael Gendy heard the pair were linked to the alleged hack by DNA left on a headlight and blood stains.

Dr Jung suffered fatal injuries to his head, bowel and chest on Monday and walked past the Royal Adelaide Hospital on Tuesday evening.

Davila will return to court next Wednesday to find out whether she will be released on bail under house arrest, while Aydin was remanded in custody to appear again in March.

It is understood that the couple had no previous connections with Dr Jung and allegedly chose his house at random.

Court documents alleged the pair planned to steal more than $30,000 worth of property.

Meanwhile, dramatic footage has emerged of the moment the pair were arrested at Torrensville Plaza in Adelaide’s inner west at about 7.30pm on Tuesday.

CCTV footage showed the moment a plainclothes police officer quickly approached Aydin and wrestled him to the ground.

Aydin, who was carrying a plastic shopping bag and had a bandage on his head, was filmed being thrown to the ground while an officer restrained him.

Davila, who was pushing their eight-month-old daughter in a stroller, then tried to escape from the square and began to run away before she too was arrested by heavily armed officers from the Special Task Force and Rescue Squad.

Police say that shortly before their arrest, Aydin and Davila allegedly stole a first aid kit from Drake’s Supermarket on the plaza in order to treat Aydin for head injuries.
