Pauline Hanson has made her “major announcement”: James Ashby, her chief of staff, will stand in the Queensland state election next year.
Mr Ashby, who will stand for the seat of Keppel, will bring a wealth of senior parliamentary and political experience to the Queensland Parliament, Senator Hanson said in a statement on Friday.
“He is a passionate supporter of Central Queensland communities and addressing many of the problems created by the neglect and incompetence of the Palaszczuk Labor government,” she said.

Mr. Ashby is a close advisor to Senator Hanson.
Mr Ashby said Queensland faced the prospect of a Labor government that would “hold city Greens to ransom”, or a change of government backed by One Nation MPs meant to represent the interests of regional communities.
“The Nationals are dead in the Queensland Parliament while the Liberals slide further left in their attempts to secure seats in inner Brisbane,” he said.
“With the support of Keppel constituents, I will work to deliver the policies needed to reduce cost of living pressures, improve housing affordability and affordability, curb youth crime and restore Queensland’s long-term vision.”
It comes as Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk’s leadership comes under increasing pressure as she seeks a fourth term in government.
A YouGov poll last week showed she was no longer the preferred prime minister.
The Liberal National Party’s lead over Labor was 52-48 per cent and Ms Palaszczuk’s net satisfaction rating now stands at minus 20.
Ms Hanson gave a fiery speech in federal parliament last week about why many Australians voted against Indigenous voices in parliament.
