Horror as body is found in car submerged in a river in NSW
A man’s body has been found inside a car submerged in a river in NSW’s Hunter region.
Emergency services were called to the Merriwa River, along the Golden Highway, at around 6am on Wednesday after reports of a car being submerged in water.
The police have established a crime scene and police officers are investigating the circumstances of the incident.

After a search by divers, the body of a man was found in the car.
His identity has not yet been officially established, but he is believed to be about 30 years old.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
