Richard Eden says Harry and Meghan should be stripped of their titles as Duke and Duchess of Sussex to prevent further damage to the monarchy.
The Daily Mail’s diary editor says in the latest edition of the Palace Confidential newsletter that the Sussexes must have known their claims of “royal racism” would cause chaos.
Rishi Sunak’s government should support efforts to remove the duchy, he writes, should strip Harry of his role as Councilor of State, which allows him to deputize for the king in some circumstances, and remove Harry and his children from the line of power. continuity.
The current state of affairs is “an insult to the British people,” he concludes.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex speak to a global audience on Oprah. Were their comments about “royal racists” deliberately intended to damage the monarchy?
“The very idea of Harry and Meghan on the throne is enough to jeopardize the monarchy.”
This week, the Duke of Sussex challenged the government’s decision to strip him of security during his visit to the UK.
“However, this is not the only right that should be taken away from him and the Duchess of Sussex,” says Eden.
“The latest episode of the couple’s disgraceful stay abroad saw them say nothing as their most outspoken supporter, Omid Scobie, dragged the names of King Charles and the Princess of Wales through the mud.
“They were identified as so-called “royal racists” who, according to Prince Harry and Meghan, discussed the likely skin color of their son, Prince Archie.
“As they clearly intended when they gave their explosive interview to Oprah Winfrey, Harry and Meghan are doing enormous damage to the monarchy.
“With their sinister claims of ‘racism’ now given new life, they are likely to continue to wreak more havoc unless decisive action is taken now.”
Eden says the government should back the parliamentary efforts of Conservative MP Bob Seeley, who The Mail on Sunday reported is trying to strip them of their titles of Duke and Duchess.
“These titles were a wedding gift from Queen Elizabeth when she thought they would become working members of the Firm,” Eden continues.”
“Her Majesty would never have thought of giving them such titles, now they are using them for commercial gain in the US.

Omid Scobie was once thought to be close to the Sussex camp. The Dutch version of his new book Endgame claims that Charles and Kate were called “royal racists”.
“Prime Minister Rishi Sunak must explain to the King that this couple is damaging the monarchy.
“Harry should also be stripped of his position as Councilor of State: the idea of him standing in for the King is an insult to the British people.
“And he and his two children must lose their positions of fifth, sixth and seventh in the line of succession.”
